Born in Wilmington, North Carolina in 1943 to John and Darlene Dirschl. They returned to Colorado when he was 6 months old. Ed was the oldest of their 4 children. Ed attended Alameda High School in Lakewood, Colorado and made many lifelong friends where he graduated in 1962. Ed then entered the U.S. Navy where he was stationed on the USS Navarro in the Pacific. He served as an Assault Boat Coxwain operating the landing craft delivering Marines on the beach during the Laotian Conflict and was on duty when President Kennedy was assassinated. He earned an honorable discharge returning home to Colorado. Ed went on to work at Western Electric as an electrical engineer in 1966 and remained there until his retirement in 1996 from what had become Lucent Technologies.
He met Jane, the love of his life while both working at Western Electric. They married in 1967 and spent 57 wonderful years together. They had 2 children Scott in 1974 and Stacey in 1977. He thoroughly loved spending time with his 3 grandchildren Karley, Kash and Kendyl. What made him most proud was watching Karley graduate from high school and mature into a lovely young adult, Kash become a great hunter, fisherman, marksman and responsible young man, and Kendyl play soccer and excel at her schoolwork and becoming the wonderful young lady she is today.
Ed’s favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing and spending time on his boat in the mountains. He was known as a true craftsman, taking pride in everything that he did because if a task was worth doing, it was worth doing well. He was also known as a problem solver and was willing to help out anyone who needed it. He enjoyed hanging out in the garage or driveway having a beer with his friends and family.
Ed is survived by his wife Jane, son Scott (Heather), daughter Stacey, sister-in-law Lana, his brother Kenny (Vicky) and sister Darlene Jean (Gerald) and his 3 grandkids along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Father (John), Mother (Darlene), and his brother (Jerry).
You will be forever missed and we will strive to live a life that you would have wanted for us.
We love you.
