Edward B. "Edziu" Dittel Jr.

Edward Bernard Dittel Jr., known to many as Junior or Edziú, age 49, of Clay Township, Michigan passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023. Edward was born on March 24, 1973 in Detroit, Michigan to his loving parents Edward and Maryann Dittel.
Edward was an amazing chef and his food was award winning. He owned the Smokin Eddy's BBQ with his specialty being ribs and chicken. He enjoyed his time spent cooking for a country club on Harsen's Island for a few years. He was a hard worker, dedicating his effort to Nortown Collision as a bodyman for 5 years. Cars were a passion for him and he especially loved his 1985 GMC truck which he rebuilt the motor for. Friends and family will remember his loving, caring, compassionate, generous, and giving heart. His faith was strong, being an altar boy and a parishioner for 10 years at Assumption Grotto, in Detroit, when he was a child. Anyone he could help he would without hesitation, always saying "It's better to give than to receive." Zen and Ollie, his beloved dogs, were a part of his family and he cherished them as such. On the St. Clair River, he would take the boat out fishing in the summer or travel around Michigan to camp. He was a talented golfer and pool player, although he could never beat his father in a game of pool. Edward was a true friend to all and will be forever missed.
Edward is the loving companion of 23 years to Melissa Scarbrough. The beloved son of Edward Curtis Dittel Sr. and Maryann Dittel (nee: Piku). Dear brother of Christopher S. Dittel Sr., uncle of Kayla Harrington, Chelsea (DJ) Woznak, and Christopher S. (Haley) Dittel Jr. The great uncle of E.J., Riley, Dominic, Bryce, Luella, and Kaylann. Nephew of Stephen Piku Jr., Matthew (Martha) Dittel and Rita (Glen) Wilkerson. Grandson of Helen Maslowski and the late Stephen Piku Sr. He is survived by his many cousins and friends.
A visitation for Edward will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Sunday, February 5, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd, Warren, Michigan 48088. An instate will occur Monday, February 6, 2023 from 9:30 AM until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00 AM at Assumption Grotto Church, 13770 Gratiot Ave, Detroit, Michigan 48205.
