Michael E. Presta

Michael Presta, age 88, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026.

Beloved husband of the late Arlene, Michael was the devoted father of Donna (Bill) McDonough, Susan (Randy) Wojtaszek, and Laura McCulloch. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Britt (Jen), Tory (Darian), Mallory (Tyler), Cody (Baylee), Alyssa, Maddie, Ben (Linda), Molly (Greg), and Mike, and a cherished great-grandfather to Liam, Joshua, Keegan, Astrid, Ronan, Aubrie, and Avery. He was the dear son of the late Joseph and Mary Presta, brother of Jim, Jan, Don (Kathy), and the late Rose, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Michael grew up in Detroit and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1956. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and Navy Reserves. During his service, he spent time aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal.

He met Arlene at a dance, and from that moment on they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. In 1963, Michael started his own business, Square Deal Truck and Trailer, beginning out of the back of a truck and later expanding to buildings in Warren and Troy. In the 1990s, he proudly built his own home in White Lake.

Michael loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing trips to Kaby Lake in Canada and Alaska where pike fishing was his favorite pastime. He enjoyed watching all sports and was known for his love of dancing, especially to his favorite song, "In The Mood" by Glenn Miller. Above all, he was an active and devoted grandfather, faithfully attending sporting events and dance recitals. Saturdays were treasured for sleepovers and pontoon boat rides, followed by Sunday Mass at 8:00 a.m.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 E. Fifteen Mile, Sterling Heights.

Funeral services will take place Friday, February 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Capuchin Soup Kitchen in honor of the Presta family's volunteer time there.
