William Paul Doster

William Paul "Bill" Doster, 70, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at his home.

Bill was born January 3, 1956 in Royal Oak, MI. He was the son of the late Paul W. and Helen (Brewer) Doster. Bill married Paula M. Kiefer on June 12, 1987.

Bill worked as a diesel mechanic at Zorn's Garage until he suffered an on-the-job injury that left him unable to continue the trade. He then became a truck driver for many years in the Monroe area, working most recently for C&M Trucking and Flatout Trucking until his retirement from that career in 2009. Bill and Paula previously attended church at Victory Temple Church of God and Monroe Outreach Assembly of God over the years where he held roles such as the Sunday School Superintendent and Young Adults Teacher. He also did outreach Bible Study at the Monroe County Jail.

Bill enjoyed racing in many forms throughout his life, a love he acquired from his father as a second-generation racer. In his younger years, he raced midgets with the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) and the United States Auto Club (USAC). Bill spent many nights at Flat Rock Speedway and other racetracks throughout the Midwest. Bill continued the passion in his later years through racing his motorcycle at Milan Dragway. When he wasn't working on cars or motorcycles, Bill could often be found walking the family dogs or feeding the birds and other critters in the yard as he was an avid animal lover. He enjoyed all things history, a passion he passed down to his eldest son and grandson. Bill also kept a keen eye on the sky, regularly reminding his loved ones of the sunset and other celestial events.

Above all, the most important thing to Bill was his family and he cherished the time he was able to spend with them. He is survived by his wife of almost 39 years, Paula; six children, Jade (Kenny Gibson) Doster of LaSalle, Wm. Caleb (Ashley) Doster of Livonia, Josiah (Alissa Bashaw) Doster of Monroe, Alexis Byers of Washington, Kristopher (Kristy) McMann of Montana, and Jessica Doster of Prudenville, MI; and a sister, Patti Vialpando of Clinton Township. Bill was "Papa" to Emma, Jaxson, Brady, Easton, Emersyn, Bryce, Wesley, Eleanor, Jordan, Ethan, Braydan and Giavana. He also had 15 additional grandchildren and bonus grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Gwendolyn Hatcher, and a brother-in-law, Mario Vialpando.

In accordance with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private memorial service planned at a later date. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family.
