Edward R. Donovan, 94 of New York City passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025. Edward is predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years Margaret A. Donovan (nee Tracey), his parents James and Agnes Donovan, his three sisters Theresa, Doris and Patricia and two brothers James and William. Edward is survived by his sister Helen Dunphy, sister in law Geraldine Donovan and 14 nieces and nephews who viewed both Edward and Margaret as a second set of loving parents. Their life together was a true love story never leaving each other's side during difficult times of illness. Edward was born and raised in New York City. As a young man during the Korean War Edward joined the US Navy and served on the aircraft carrier Midway stationed in the Mediterranean Sea. Edward was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Before retiring he worked as a USPS letter carrier in NYC. After retiring he went on to work for several years for Maersk Inc. alongside his wife Margaret. Edward and his wife Margaret lived their Catholic faith and were very active supporters of St John's Church in NYC near Madison Square Garden and several charities. He enjoyed spending time with Margaret exploring shops and stores. He loved to travel and spend time at the beach. Edward loved his extended family and was always invited and present during family functions and celebrations. Edward had a great sense of humor. With a twinkle in his blue eyes and a heart of gold, he was always very affirming and interested in others. Edward will be dearly missed by his family. His kindness, generosity, and loving presence was truly a blessing to us all.
