Edward Dougherty Obituary
Edward 'Ed' M. Dougherty, age 94, a resident of Glen Mills, PA, passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 28, 2024. Ed was raised in Ridley Park, PA, and graduated from St. James High School in Chester, PA. He continued his education by earning a bachelor's degree from LaSalle College and a master's degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
Ed was a man of many passions and talents; he was a published author and loved to travel. A devoted sports enthusiast, Ed was a huge supporter of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football as well as the LaSalle basketball team, often seen cheering them on with great enthusiasm. He also enjoyed following the Phillies and Eagles. Ed was a proud alumnus of the St. James Choir. Ed also enjoyed reading, spending time at the shore, and being with family and friends. He was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army.
He was the son of the late Edward and Alice (Bell) Dougherty, husband to the late Mary (McGonigal) Dougherty, father to the late Patricia Dougherty and brother to the late Bernice Heron and Marie Diamond.
Survivors: His wife Mary Catherine 'Kay' Thomas Dougherty, his children: Tom (Elaine), Ed (JoAnne), Cathy (Paul), Terrie, Dennis (Carol), and Andrew (Kelly), and his grandchildren: Megan Dougherty, Tom Dougherty (Tanya), Christine Dougherty (KK), Jeff Dougherty (Liz), Kate Meglathery (Ryan), Julie Dougherty, Dan Kuhlman (Ramona), Michael Kuhlman (Cait), Kevin Kuhlman (Jackie), Madeline Dougherty, Kaileigh Dougherty, Maiah Dougherty. Great-grandchildren: Allie, Collin, Kai, Wren, Jordan, Connor, Quinn, and Finley. As well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 9:15am - 10:15am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd. Glen Mills, PA 19342.
Funeral Mass: Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 10:30am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Burial: Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA 19064.
