EDWARD MIKE DUCHENE It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edward Mike Duchene on November 27, 2023. He was 86 years old. Surrounded by family he acknowledged having a great life. Edward was born on March 2, 1937, at Cochise County Hospital in Douglas, Ariz. to the late Margaret Rodriguez and Mike Duchene. He spent his youth in Douglas and enjoyed hunting deer. In 1954 he joined the Army National Guard. He left the military in 1962 with the rank of Infantry Sergeant. He went on to work in the Copper Queen mines for several years before moving to Kansas City in 1962 with his late wife Evangelina Andrade Duchene whom he married in 1960. He worked for Sherwin Williams while attending classes at University of Missouri-Kansas City which led to a career in computer programming. He eventually took a job with Remington Ammunitions (now Olin) in Lake City which brought him to Independence where he resided until his passing. Edward retired from Olin at age 65 and spent his time perfecting his golf game. He and his wife would winter in Bisbee, Ariz. He also enjoyed playing online bridge and doing projects around his home. Edward is survived by his three children, daughters: Veronica Duchene Weddle and her husband, Mike, of Independence, Mo.; Patricia Duchene Bringewatt of Basking Ridge, N.J.; and son Dominic E. Duchene and his wife Michelle, also from Independence. He was a proud grandpa to nine grandchildren: Jennifer Weddle Wilson, Stephanie Weddle Bartlett, Ryan and Amanda Bringewatt, Chelsea Duchene Lear, Dominic II, Courtney, Laney and Ava Duchene; as well as his six great-grandchildren, Dylan Wilson; Mara, Ella, and Gabriel Bartlett; and Myles and Zoey Lear. He is also survived by his brother Robert Duchene of Tucson, Ariz. and sister Margaret Rude of Phoenix, Ariz. As per his wishes he was cremated. The interment of ashes will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence alongside his wife Evangelina who passed away in 2015.
