Edward "Mickey" Dunne, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on October 5, 1932, in Jersey City, NJ, Mickey's life was marked by his unwavering devotion to his family, his country, and his faith.
Mickey attended Lincoln High School in Jersey City. It is within those hallways that he met his loving wife, Bernice Tufano Little did he know that meeting was the beginning of a wonderful 67 year marriage. After graduating high school Mickey proudly served as a radio operator in the Army during the Korean War, a period of his life that instilled in him a profound sense of duty and camaraderie. His service to his nation was a source of great pride and shaped the strong, resilient man he was. Upon returning from the war, Mickey built a life in Jersey City, NJ, where he was a pillar of the community and a friend to all who knew him.
In his personal life, Mickey was a beacon of love and generosity. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Bernice, who was the light of his life and his partner in every sense. Together, they raised a family that was the center of Mickey's world: his children, Scott and Doreen; his grandchildren, Andréa, Connor, and Samantha; and his great-grandsons, Axl and Xander. Each of them benefited from Mickey's wisdom, humor, and the kind of practical skills that only a truly handy man could pass on.
A devout Catholic, Mickey's faith was a quiet, steady force that guided him through life's challenges and joys. He found solace and strength in his beliefs, and his example of living a life of integrity and kindness was a testament to his faith.
Upon retiring in 2004, Mickey and Bernice traveled south to their new home in Lions Head South, Brick NJ. Mickey's interests were a reflection of his joyful spirit and love for life. An eager golfer, he could often be found on the greens, reveling in the camaraderie and challenge of the game. He was a lifelong fan of the NY Giants and Notre Dame football, and his enthusiasm on game days was infectious. Simple pleasures, like enjoying a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, were never taken for granted, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
Those who knew Mickey will remember a man who was loving, gentle, caring, generous, and handy. He could fix anything, build anything, and was always willing to lend a hand. His laughter and stories were the heart of family gatherings, and his presence was a comfort and a joy to those around him.
Edward "Mickey" Dunne lived a full life, marked by love, service, and an unwavering commitment to his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a man who made the world a better place by simply being in it. Mickey's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Mickey is survived by his wife, Bernice Dunne (Tufano), son, Scott Dunne and his wife Maria, daughter Doreen Lamparello and her husband Francis; granddaughter, Andréa Lamparello and her husband Blake, grandson Connor Lamparello and his wife Jessica, granddaughter Samantha Pennington and her husband Garrett; great-grandsons Axl and Xander; and many living nieces and nephews.
