Edward A. Miller Jr., known affectionately as Ed, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at the age of 90 at Covenant Health Care in Saginaw. Born on August 17, 1934, in Bay County, Michigan to the late Edward & Stella (Kapture) Miller Sr., Ed was a man whose life was marked by dedication to his country, love for his family, and unwavering commitment to his faith.

Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army, an experience that left an indelible mark on his character, shaping him into the resilient and patriotic man he was known to be. Returning from service, he found and married the love of his life, Eva Matijega at St. Mary's Catholic Church on July 9, 1960, and together they shared a beautiful union until her passing on February 9, 1980. Despite the loss of his beloved wife, Ed pursued life with a quiet, enduring spirit of hope and love.

Ed was a devoted father to his children, Alan (Lori) Miller, Sharon Miller, and Christine Miller, who will forever cherish his memory. Special cousin Rosie Miller, his nieces and nephews, Deb Rivard, Lori (Mark) Keim, Troy (Wendy) Rivard, Tracey Rivard, and Tammy (Andy) Kowalczyk, alongside his good friend Ted Maida, will also hold dear the moments they shared with him. He was a guiding light in their lives, and his absence will be profoundly felt. Ed was preceded in death by his sister Marge Rivard, but his legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.

For 34 years, Ed dedicated himself to his work at Northern Tube, where he was respected and valued for his commitment and work ethic. His retirement in 1993 marked the end of a remarkable career, but the beginning of a new chapter filled with the pursuits he loved most. A devout man, Ed was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Nine Mile Catholic Church before joining Holy Trinity, where he continued to live out his faith with love and grace.

Ed's interests were as varied as they were passionate. An avid sports fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to watch and attend Detroit Tigers' Sunday home games. His presence at the Detroit Lions' games was as steadfast as his support for the team. Ed's greatest joy, however, was found in the company of his family, celebrating special family occasions. He treasured memories of trips to Florida, exhilarating outings to Cedar Point, and the tradition of participating in the Mackinaw Bridge Walk for 34 consecutive years with his loved ones.

Described by those who knew him as faith-filled, generous, and selfless, Ed's life was a testament to the virtues he held in highest regard. His generosity extended beyond his family to all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his selflessness was evident in every act of kindness he performed.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11 am from Holy Trinity Parish with Rev. Fr. Matthew Federico presiding with burial in St. Mary's Mt. Calvary Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may visit at the Lee-Ramsay Funeral Home on Friday, from 4 to 7 pm. On Friday, A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7 p. m. Saturday, friends may visit at the church from 10 am until time of mass. The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank you to Covenant Care Hospital and the Med Star team for the professional and compassionate care given to Ed.
