Edward Walter Sulak, known affectionately to friends and family as Ed, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, in Houston, Texas, after a courageous battle with dementia.
Born on March 29, 1934, in East Bernard, Texas, Ed was a man of deep faith and unwavering spirit who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Ed's early years in East Bernard shaped a life that would be rooted in Christian values and community service.
Ed's commitment to his faith was exemplified by his active involvement in the Catholic Church. As a devout Catholic and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, he served with distinction as the Grand Knight in Fayetteville, Texas, embodying the organization's principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.
In his personal life, Ed was a loving family man, preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Sulak, his father, Walter Sulak, his mother, Mary Sulak, and his brother, "Sonny" Sulak. He is survived by his three sons, Ed, Tim, and Andy Sulak, his brother Johnny Sulak, and his cherished grandchildren, Chelsea, Eddie, Andrea, Tamara, Charlie, and Dylan Sulak. Each family member was a treasure in his heart, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to guide them.
Ed's passion for sports was well-known, and he could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, the Astros, Oilers, and Texans. His enthusiasm was infectious, and he enjoyed sharing these moments with his friends and family, creating lasting memories at games and gatherings.
Those who knew Ed would describe him as faith-filled, a man who walked with God and exemplified the virtues of kindness, patience, and generosity. His life was a testament to the power of living one's beliefs, and he inspired many to strive for a closer relationship with the divine.
As we bid farewell to Edward Walter Sulak, we celebrate a life that was rich in love, faith, and service. Ed's journey on earth has ended, but his spirit remains a beacon of light for all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, yet we take comfort in knowing that he rests now in the loving embrace of his Creator.
We honor Ed's memory by holding tight to the lessons he imparted through his actions and words: to live with purpose, to love without reservation, and to always keep faith at the center of our lives. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his story continue to inspire us all.
