Edward Jack Everidge
December 28, 1944 - July 11, 2025
It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of Edward "Jack" Everidge, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Jack was born on December 28, 1944, and peacefully passed away on July 11, 2025. Jack leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. His loving wife, Jan Everidge, survives him. His sons, Brett and Jay Everidge, his daughter-in-law, Kelly Everidge, and his stepchildren, Shira, Josh, Zach (Michelle), and Noah (Jill) Singerman, remember Jack fondly. His beloved grandchildren, Bennett, Karalina and Katherine Everidge, along with Ruby, Soli (children Irie and Arlo, Leo Kaiser (son Ezra) and Kalin Castillo and Ethan, Everett, Emma, Oscar and Jasper Singerman will miss their grandpa's warm presence, humor and kindness.
Jack was a proud alumnus of De Anza High School in Richmond, CA, where he graduated in 1963. He continued his education in the field of Social Work at San Francisco State University, San Francisco, CA, where he earned his degree in 1968. In the same year, he embarked on a fulfilling 30+ year career with Marin County Probation, first in juvenile, then felony investigations. He brought a wealth of knowledge of human behavior as a diversion and investigations officer along with strong writing skills and good judgment.
Jack's life was a reflection of love, integrity, and perseverance. His familial bonds were strong, and his home was always filled with love and laughter. Jack enjoyed a good martini and a cigar on the golf course. When the teams were local, he supported the Oakland Raiders and Oakland Athletics. All his life Jack had a fascination with war history, reading many books about the Civil War and World War II. He loved playing golf and tennis. He was proud to be a slow driver and even had his license plate announcing it with the letters YAIMSLO. Jack and Jan cherished their life together in Petaluma and enjoyed traveling, spending quality time with family and friends and taking walks down to Peets. The highlight of each year was their month long stay in Palm Springs.
Jack always took pride in his personal appearance. In high school he came in second for best dressed and always felt he should have been first. He had a great eye for clothes whether for himself or for his wife who always took him shopping with her.
Jack had a dry and sarcastic sense of humor in the funniest way possible. During his working years, he was a primary contributor to an atmosphere of fun and humor at work. Whether making a joke or having a joke made on him, he was always able to laugh at himself.
Jack's zest for life, dedication to his profession, and love for his family will forever be remembered. He has left an indelible mark on all our hearts.
Memorial services will be private.
