Edward Joseph "Ed" Feeherry

Edward Joseph Feeherry passed away on January 29, 2026, at the age of 81.

Edward was born on July 6, 1944, and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts. He attended the College of the Holy Cross, where he earned a degree in Mathematics. He later joined the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Edward devoted his professional life to public service, working for the Department of Defense Inspector General's Office until his retirement.

In 2013, Edward moved from Virginia to the southern coast of California, a place he often described as his paradise on earth. He could frequently be found at Pines Park, overlooking the vast beauty of the Pacific Ocean, quietly reading a book and taking in the view.

Edward celebrated 39 years of sobriety, an achievement he embraced with deep humility and pride. Recovery was a central and guiding force in his life, and he was deeply respected and loved by many in the recovery community. Edward was always willing to listen, offer guidance, and support others on their own paths, whether through sponsorship or quiet conversation. His sobriety shaped the way he lived with honesty, service, and compassion, and made possible the devoted life he built as a father, grandfather, and friend.

Edward was most proud to be a father to his daughter, Ann Feeherry, known to him and many others as Annie. Being a father was his greatest accomplishment, and he devoted his life fully and joyfully to that role. He was a dedicated, caring, and deeply kind father, and the bond he shared with Annie was the defining relationship of his life.

Edward was also a loving grandfather to Mason, who brought him immense joy. Ed loved Mason deeply and made several trips from California back to Virginia just to spend time with him. His eyes would light up watching Mason learn, laugh, and play, moments that filled his heart and brought him profound happiness.

A firm believer in equity and diversity, Edward was a strong advocate for inclusivity, fairness, and compassion. He lived by the values he taught his daughter, often reminding her that the best way to live life is through kindness, tolerance, understanding, and patience.

Edward is survived by his daughter, Annie, his beloved grandson Mason, and the many people whose lives were touched by his generosity, wisdom, and gentle strength. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
