Edward John Finnegan, age 82 of Murphy, NC passed away Monday, July 28, 2025.
He was born in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Robert and Kathleen Courter Finnegan. Edward retired from Hartford Insurance Company. He worked as a drug and alcohol counselor. Edward was very passionate about his ministry. He loved to serve people. Edward volunteered at Renewed Hope Ministries and Choices Pregnancy Center. He was a New York Yankees fan. Edward attended Mountain View Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Tom Finnegan; and his sisters, Maureen and Kathy.
He is survived by three sons, Mike Finnegan (Annette) of Murphy, NC; David Finnegan of Andrews, NC and Donald Finnegan (Michelle) of Brick, NJ; one daughter, Debbie Mann (Rob) of Vernon, NJ; one brother, John Finnegan; grandchildren, Ryan Finnegan, Noah Finnegan, Josiah Finnegan, Cory Finnegan, Casey Finnegan, Bailey Mann, Dylan Mann, Jacob Mann, Michael Finnegan and Alyssa Finnegan; great grandchildren, Charli Brooks, Ryan Finnegan, Falon Finnegan and Carter Finnegan; bonus grandchildren, Valerie Long, Christopher Morrow and Erica White; and bonus great grandchildren, Dallas Long, Fynlee Long, Lilly Morrow, Murphy Long and Lincoln White.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6 pm, Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the Mountain View Church in Murphy. Pastor Mike Crowe will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Edward John Finnegan to the Renewed Hope Ministries, 150 Penny Lane, Murphy, NC 28906.
Townson-Rose Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
