Edward Noel Fletcher, called Noel by all who knew him, passed away on September 2, 2024 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview, TX. He was 91 years old. Noel was born on July 20, 1933 in Portland, Oregon to Clarence and Roma Fletcher. He and his older brother, Barr, were close growing up and remained so throughout their lives. In 1955, Noel graduated from the University of Oregon with a B.A. in Philosophy. After his U.S. Army service at Fort Benning, GA, Noel headed to New York University where he earned a Master's degree in Business Administration. While there, he worked in the Business Office and soon began dating his supervisor, a lovely young woman named Concetta Grasso. Noel and Connie were married on July 19, 1958. Their first child, Mark, was born in 1959. In 1960, the family headed west to California where Noel, now a Certified Public Accountant, took a position at Stanford University. The family continued to grow with the births of Matthew, Vincent, and Christine. From 1955 to 1970, Noel also served in the Army Reserves, rising to the rank of Captain in the 91st Division. In 1974 he left Stanford to take a position as a controller at a private firm. He fulfilled that role at multiple companies in San Jose and Los Angeles until his retirement in 1995. In 2005, Connie passed away. Noel moved to Marshall, TX, in 2016 to be closer to his oldest son Mark and his family. A lifelong avid reader and dog lover, he spent his time reading novels, walking his dog Cotton, joining a book club, and being active in the Knights of Columbus. Noel is survived by his four children, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation and a Rosary will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday September 10 at the Cammack Family Sullivan Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be said at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 10:30 AM Wednesday September 11. Noel will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Los Angeles, CA, next to Connie, his beloved wife of 46 years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to Friends of Marshall Animals
