Obituary of Edward D Forman
Edward Forman, of Montclair, NJ, cherished family member, devoted son, and beloved educator, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
Ed was born to Alice Forman on January 4, 1970, in the Bronx, NY. He moved to Staten Island with his mother and older sister Remunda Forman-Fong in 1973, where he made lifelong friends. You know the thrill, yes it's Park Hill. Ed was a fierce competitor, and he excelled at athletics at New Dorp High School.
Ed went on to play football and study Economics at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, where he met Carolyn (née Epting). Ed and Carolyn married in 1995, and they have two amazing, beautiful daughters, Danielle and Katelyn.
After graduating with his degree, Ed started his career in finance as a trader at Bank of America before shifting to a career in teaching with the New York City Department of Education. In 2005, Ed pursued a graduate degree in Educational Leadership and Administration at the University of Scranton. Upon receiving his Master of Education (MEd) degree, he launched into a new career in school leadership, working as a Dean for the NYC DOE before moving to Boonton Public School District, where he worked as a Vice Principal and Dean.
Everyone knew Ed would be out on the links any chance he got, even if it was too cold or too hot for more fair-weather golfers. In January 2020, he and Carolyn traveled to California so he could fulfill a longstanding dream to play at Pebble Beach. Ed was a phenomenal gardener, transforming the outdoor space at his Montclair home every spring, much to his mother-in-law, Barbara Epting's delight.
Ed was an exercise enthusiast, doing CrossFit with the whole family and joining Carolyn for half-marathons and one full marathon, even though he hated it. His children and nieces both loved and dreaded his summertime personal training regimen for them, lovingly called Eddie Bootcamp. Ed loved all New York sports, especially the New York Football Giants and he bled blue in good times and bad.
Ed is preceded in death by his nephew Malik Findley and by his mother Alice Forman. At Alice's funeral service just two weeks ago, Ed urged those in attendance to use the passing of loved ones as an opportunity to hold close those who remain. Kindness and faith are the foundation.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughters Danielle and Katelyn, sister Remunda, and nieces Mei-Ling Fong, Kaya Weiser, Allie Weiser, Ava Epting, Chloe Epting, Cece Jacknick, nephew Al Jacknick, grandnephew Major Stevenson, and grandniece A'Mei Stevenson.
The family will receive visitors for a viewing Friday, September 6th, 5-7pm at Moriarty Funeral Home at 76 Park St., Montclair, NJ, 07042. A Mass of Resurrection in celebration of Ed's life will be held at St. Cassian Roman Catholic Church of Montclair on Saturday, September 7th, at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to The First Tee (firsttee.org) in Ed's name.

Ed Forman will be missed in Boonton schools community. HE touched so many kids' lives in such a positive way. Both of my daughters interacted with him, and were devastated to hear the news of his passing. Rest in peace sir, knowing you made so many lives so much better.
