Edward Freeman Obituary

Edward John Freeman, 66, a life-long resident of Scranton died June 2nd after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Diane M. Kingsley Freeman.

Raised in the Nativity section of Scranton, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Ann Marie Stoeber Freeman. He was a 1977 graduate of Scranton Technical High School, and recently retired from UGI after a career that spanned decades.

Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing and picking wild mushrooms with his father, family and friends. He and Diane were avid Steelers fan and enjoyed watching the games in their Steelers gear. He also enjoyed watching pro golf on Sundays when football season was over. When his daughter was little, they enjoyed many outdoor adventures together. In recent years they enjoyed the many dinners with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren - they were special memories they will cherish forever.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Kristen and her husband Joseph Pipitone, of Kingsley, and his cherished grandchildren Bradley and Natalie; sisters Lynn Freeman and husband Michael Ortiz, West Chester, and Judith Stankavage, Scranton; a niece Nicole Stankavage; an aunt, Mary Louise McLaughlin, nee Stoeber; and cousins Erin Marie and Eugene McLaughlin.

Ed is also survived by a loving, extended step-family - children, Bill Donovan and partner Cindy, Carbondale, Jamie Donovan, Spring Brook, Amy Donovan Gallagher, Florida, and Gina LoRusso, Spring Brook; grandchildren, Michael, Shane, Alivia, Braedy, Eathan, Kilian, Claire and Fiona; and great-grandchildren Luca and Gianna.

He is also survived by his PG&W and UGI family of 45 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son-in-law Edward Gallagher, granddaughter Breigh Gallagher, and uncle Eugene McLaughlin.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family and entrusted to Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, Scranton.
