Theresa (Terri) Eibach Shields, aged 64, passed away unexpectedly on August 14. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and an active member of Divine Mercy Parish.
A graduate of Bishop Klonowski High School and Marywood University, Terri and her soulmate Gene spent 42 years of marriage living all over the world and building a lifetime of memories. Thanks to Gene’s Army career taking them to all the corners of the globe, Terri was able to combine her love of children, sports and education by teaching and coaching students in places like Hawaii and Germany. When they settled back in her family’s homestead in Scranton, Terri turned her career to retail, brightening the days of many customers at CVS and Gerrity’s. Throughout her life, Terri was committed to her family, sports and education. She brought a firm but kind touch and her easy laugh and quick wit to all her interactions.
Terri’s life was marked by her unwavering faith and her deep love for her family. Her dedication to her children and grandchildren was evident in her daily actions and she took great pride in nurturing her family through life’s challenges and celebrations. Terri is survived by her greatest joys, her children Eugene Junior, Corey (Jacqueline) and Desiree (Travis Comiskey) Shields and the lights of her life, her grandchildren Jailynn, Eli and Logan Shields.
In addition to her parents and Gene’s parents, Terri was preceded in death by her beloved sister Kathleen McDonnell and her cherished brothers Lance Corporal Robert Eibach Jr and Greg Eibach as well as her brothers in law Jerry Connolly and Patrick Kearney.
Terri is survived by her brother Bill (Rosemary) Eibach and her sisters Susan (Ray) Valdez and Jennifer (Jim) Palauskas as well as her bonus siblings, Kevin McDonnell. John (Marlene) Shields, Frank (Kathleen) Shields, Madge Connolly, Tom (Cathleen) Shields, Patricia Kearney, Nancy (Charlie) Cardimona, Edward (Elizabeth) Shields and Joseph (Ann) Shields. Terri’s many nieces and nephews will all miss her tremendously.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Paul McDonnell on Tuesday, August 19 at 10 am at Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis Street, Scranton. Friends may pay their respects from 9 am until the time of the Mass at the Church.
