Edward Geiger Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 22, 1916.
EDWARD "ED" ROSS GEIGER April 14, 1942 ~ June 22, 2016 Edward "Ed" Ross Geiger of Vancouver, Washington, passed away June 22nd at the age of 74 surrounded by family. Ed lived an extraordinary life and will forever be remembered for telling jokes good and bad, cheering on the Seahawks, Trail Blazers and the Yankees, enjoying ice cream even in cold weather, his love of travel near and far, playing the guitar, singing a nice folk tune and most of all, always being there with a warm hug and a big smile. Ed was born April 14th, 1942 in Allentown, Pennsylvania to Donald and Kay Geiger. He graduated from Lehigh University, earning both undergraduate and MBA degrees. While at Lehigh, Ed met the love of his life, Edri. They were married soon after graduating and on June 19th, they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Ed served as a Navy Supply Corp Officer taking him all around the country including Adak, Alaska. After his service, Ed and his family returned to their beloved Alaska where he worked at FMUS and Alascom as a Controller and CFO. He thoroughly enjoyed all the adventures the Last Frontier had to offer, from hiking and canoeing to digging for clams, picking berries, and watching the northern lights dancing in the sky on cold winter nights. For the last 32 years, Ed lived in Vancouver, WA where he worked at Pacific Telecom before starting his own consulting business, The Experience Network. Throughout his life, Ed was a very active member in the Vancouver community, serving on numerous community boards and advisory groups such as, Clark College Foundation, Clark County Fair and Facilities, Riverview Community Bank, Columbia Credit Union, Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce. In 1999, Ed was diagnosed with Parkinson's. With the support of his wife, he bravely fought the disease for 17 years - throughout which he willingly and generously participated in clinical research studies conducted by the Parkinson's Center of Oregon at OHSU. Ed is lovingly remembered by his wife, Edri; daughter, Suzanne and her husband, Craig and their children, Amelia and Pablo-Diego; daughter, Heather and her husband, Travis and their children, Sam and Ellis; and sister, Nancy Smith of Philadelphia. A celebration of Ed's life is being held Friday, July 22nd from 5-7p.m. at the Penguin Union Lounge at Clark College in Vancouver, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in his name be sent to either The Parkinson's Center of Oregon at OHSU or the Geiger Scholarship through the Clark College Foundation. Edri, I was thinking about Ed the other day. I am so sorry to hear of his struggles and passing. Ed was so respected and enjoyed at MUS. I'm glad I had the opportunity to know him.

I have such fond memories of Ed and Edri beginning with our meeting at the Parkinson's Center of Oregon many years ago. It was delightful to work with a couple so committed to one another and united in their efforts to learn everything they could about Parkinson's disease. They made the journey together and that makes all the difference. Much love, Kate
