February 23, 1923 - February 7, 2022
Edward Anthony Glowka, Sr., age 98, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022, in Winston-Salem. He was born on February 23, 1923, in Philadelphia, PA, to Bernard and Louise Glowka. Mr. Glowka graduated from high school in Philadelphia and then served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received the Bronze Star. He moved to Winston-Salem for a 6-month job at H.L. Yoh as an illustrator, but married Nell and never went back. Mr. Glowka was an artist in his spare time and a lousy golfer. He was always willing to give a helping hand and at the age of 77, he helped his son build a house. He was an avid Wake Forest fan and also followed his son and grandson as they competed in sports car racing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Glowka; son, Eddie Glowka; and sister, Ruth Campanara. Mr. Glowka is survived by his son, Jim Glowka; daughter, Pat Glowka; grandson, Ben Glowka; and his brother, Francis Glowka (Philomena). A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church with burial to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Salem Funeral & Cremation Service at 120 S. Main St., Winston-Salem, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Condolences may be made online at www.salemfh.com.

Dear Glowka Family -
Since the mid 1970s, both Mr. & Mrs. Glowka weaved in and around the Stack Family. I remember Mrs. Glowka at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. Over the last several years would see Mr. Glowka at Holy Mass at St. Leo´s. His obituary was well written; and was nice to learn more about his long life! May he Rest In Peace
