Stefan Glowka

Stefan Glowka, 82, of Plainville, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Janina (Maslowski) Glowka for 61 years. Born in Poland, son of the late Jozef and Eleanor Glowka, he came to the U.S. in 1965 and lived in New Britain for many years prior to settling in Plainville 10 years ago. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. Before coming to the U.S. Stefan was a glass crystal maker for 10 years. He retired from Atlantic Machine Tool Works after many years of employment. He enjoyed flower gardening and he always kept busy whether it was working on cars or keeping his home tidy. Along with his wife, he leaves his three sons, John Glowka and his wife Elizabeth of Kensington, Christopher Glowka and his wife Amy of Southington, and Mark Glowka of Plainville, with whom he made his home. He also leaves his six grandchildren, Joseph Glowka and his wife Melissa, Paige Glowka and her fiancé George, Anthony Glowka, Jeffrey Glowka and his wife Gabby, Krystyna Glowka and Stefania Glowka, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Helena Cemna. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, August 18th, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. For the safety of everyone, our staff will be wearing masks in the building and we encourage attendees to do the same. Masks are mandatory for unvaccinated guests. His funeral service will begin at the funeral home on Thursday, August 19th, at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, New Britain.
