Edward John Guzy

Edward John Guzy, a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at his home in Oakwood Hills, Illinois, at the age of 63. Born on October 22, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, Ed exemplified a spirit of hard work and dedication that defined both his personal and professional life.

For over 30 years, Ed made his mark as a Master Carpenter, contributing to many notable buildings in downtown Chicago as a proud member of the Carpenters Local Union 250. His colleagues knew him for his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. He graduated from Cary Grove High School in 1979, embarking on a career that would reflect his deep pride in craftsmanship.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ed was cherished for his warm personality and loyal friendship. He had a generous spirit and a gentle soul, embodying kindness, humility, and honesty, which left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. Ed's devotion to family was evident in everything he did, and he continually prioritized time spent with loved ones.

Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding solace in nature's embrace. He was a passionate member of the North American Hunting Club and Hickory Knoll Sportsman Club, where he pursued his love for the great outdoors. His favorite moments were spent on the water, often out on the lake at dawn with his dogs by his side and a cup of coffee in hand, watching the sunrise—a ritual that reflected his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly Guzy; his father, Ronald Guzy (Mary Ryan); his brother, Michael Guzy; his sister, LeeAnn Flentge; his nieces, Amie Guzy, Heather (Patrick) Comisky, Emily Flentge, April Guzy (Keith Lachel), and Holly Flentge (Malique Ross); his nephew, Andrew Payette; and his great-niece, Laura Guzy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose, nee Sweeny (the late Doug) Marlowe.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life honoring Ed's legacy on Saturday, July 19th from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at The Quarry, 5517 Northwest Hwy., Crystal Lake.

Ed will be fondly remembered for the joy and love he brought into the lives of all who knew him. His legacy will continue to live on through the countless memories shared with family and friends. Forever loved. Deeply missed. Never to be forgotten.
