Janelle Lynn Venet, of Crystal Lake passed away peacefully in her sleep December 27, 2025. Born April 28, 1968 in Hampton Virginia to Alfred Rex and Connie Johnson. Beloved and loving wife of Michael G. Venet; devoted mother of Abigail Butler of Crystal Lake, Logan Butler of Charleston SC, Austin Butler of Austin TX; caring step mother of Michael J. Venet of Cary and Kyle Venet of Chicago; dear sister of Lorrie (Mike) Wohlfeil of Crystal Lake, David Johnson of Arlington Heights and Brian Johnson of Crystal Lake; fond aunt of Hannah, Mason and Christian Wohleil and Dash, Sam, and Charlie Johnson. Janelle is preceded in death by her father Alfred Rex Johnson who passed away in 2021.
Janelle graduated from Cary Grove High School class of 86’. She then went on to the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, where she earned her Bachelor of Education. She enjoyed many years as an elementary school teacher, but then felt her true call to be a full-time mom, staying at home raising her three children. Throughout the years, she did create a successful Career as an executive director of Thirty-One Sales all while being a full time mom. Janelle was a woman of deep faith. She cherished her close relationship with Jesus Christ and was a vibrant member of her local church. She also liked to spend her time being a crafter, quilter and her favorite hobby was crochet. At heart, she was a lake girl, and loved to spend time with her two dogs; Lady and Belle up North. However, she loved animals of kind including her two beloved cats; Oliver and Boo. Above all else, she loved her family dearly, and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend.
