Edward Haak Obituary

Edward "Ed" Haak 1938- 2025 Edward L. Haak, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away on May 1, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on November 2, 1938, Ed was a force of nature, larger than life, ornery, funny, and stubborn in the most unforgettable ways.

Ed's legacy was carved into the roads of Wyoming, quite literally. He began working in road construction at the age of 10 and went on to dedicate his life to building the very foundations that connected the state. Over the decades, he was involved in every stage of road building. A lifelong dream of Ed's came true when he founded Star Aggregates, Inc., fulfilling his passion for the work and creating a business he was proud to share with his family. As President and primary owner, he left a lasting mark on Wyoming's infrastructure. He retired in December 2007, but his grit and drive never slowed down. After he retired, he served on the Board of Directors for Platte Valley Bank for many years.

In 1958, Ed married the love of his life, Jo Anne "Jody" Snyder. Their love was enduring and strong, a testament to a lifetime of partnership. Through the years, Ed came to deeply understand and cherish the importance of family and loved his own fiercely.

He is survived by his devoted wife Jody, and their four children: Lynda Holthus (Jim) of Windsor, CO; Joe Haak of Colorado Springs, CO; Doug Haak (Kim) of Cheyenne, WY; and Matt Haak (Leslie) of Evans, GA. He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Amber Holthus-Pera (Amy), Dustin Holthus (Kristin), Tyler Haak (Madison Crum), Maddison Haak (Nick Delach), Brienne Reynolds (Kenny), and Andrew Lee. His legacy continues through seven great-grandchildren, who will grow up with stories of his strength, humor, and love.

Some of Ed's happiest times were spent with family at Glendo Lake in Wyoming, where memories were made that will last a lifetime. Whether he was cracking a joke, offering hard won advice, or just enjoying the company of those he loved, Ed's presence filled every space he was in.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The roads he built may fade with time, but the love he gave and the life he lived will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held at the Cheyenne Country Club, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 1 to 4 pm

The family plans to create a memory book to honor Ed's incredible life. Please bring or send your best story or memory of Ed to be included. We believe these shared memories will help keep his spirit and legacy alive for generations to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Parkinson's Foundation or the local Black Dog Animal Rescue located on 9th St in Cheyenne.
