EDWARD JACKSON "JACK" HALL

HALL, Edward Jackson "Jack" Age 81, of Cambridge, MA, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Jack was born in Pompano Beach, FL to Clemons Daniel Hall and Mable Lewis Hall on June 29, 1943. He was the youngest of four siblings, Dan, Sally and Rosemary. Growing up, he assisted in the family business, Halls Metal Works. Jack was always known as a handyman, dating back to his days at the metal shop. Jack graduated from Pompano Beach High School in 1961, serving as the student council president. Jack left Florida for MIT, receiving an undergraduate degree in Philosophy and a graduate degree in Civil Engineering. He was also a proud member of the MIT sailing team. After MIT, Jack worked in the real estate development industry. As CEO of Hall, Davison and Company, he oversaw the construction of The Parkside, one of the first high-rise condo buildings to be constructed in downtown Boston. In the early 1990s, Jack shifted gears to time and attendance software when he started Work Technology Corporation. In the company's heyday, WorkTech Time was used in facilities and refineries worldwide. The company had a headquarters in Somerville, MA and a branch office in New Zealand. Jack was proud to be a Cantabridgian. He was a member of the Cambridge Tennis Club and a devoted member of Old Cambridge Baptist Church. Jack could be frequently seen wearing a straw fedora or tweed hat while riding his Cannondale bike around Cambridge. He is survived by his children, Porter (Roberta Hall, mother), James, Jackson and Emily (Virginia Coleman, mother); six grandchildren; his sister, Sally; and many nieces and nephews. He was a devoted father to his four children, prioritizing fun, adventure and learning. Burial was held at the Mount Auburn Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 25, at Old Cambridge Baptist Church.
