Edward Jon Harrold, aged 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Laveen, Arizona, on
August 9, 2025, with his devoted wife Mary by his side.
A proud Army veteran and lifelong Mason, Ed lived a life of service, dedication, and family.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on October 16, 1935, he served honorably in the United States
Army and was also an active member of the Civil Air Patrol and the National Guard. He
continued his commitment to service as a 68-year member of the Free Masons, where he
embodied the values of brotherhood, integrity, and charity.
Ed had a remarkable passion for aviation. As a teenager, he earned his pilot's license before his
driver's license. He enjoyed pleasure and aerobatic flying, competed in aerobatic events, and
even built his own mini biplane. He was a proud member of the Phoenix Flyers.
Professionally, Ed and his beloved wife Mary worked side by side for decades, co-founding and
operating Arizona Accounting Services since 1979. A dedicated and accredited tax preparer, he
was a member of both the National Society of Accountants and the Arizona Society of Practicing
Accountants. Their business reflected their shared values of trust, dedication, and personal care
for clients.
Beyond his career, Ed was a talented blacksmith and an active member of the Arizona Artist
Blacksmith Association. He was also an avid cook who found joy in the kitchen and passed that
love of cooking to his son Steven.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary; his children Edward (and wife Jane), Steven
(and wife Dorothy), and Joanne (and husband Gary); 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild. His legacy of kindness, hard work, and love for life will live on
in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at
Lowman's Funeral Home in Phoenix, Arizona.
