Edward Dennis Hester Jr., age 95, of East Greenbush, New York, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12th at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, New York, surrounded by his children. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, laughter, strength, and devotion to his family. Born and raised in
Hudson, New York, Ed graduated from Hudson High School and proudly served overseas in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home he married and began his career with the Atlas Cement Company, starting a life built on hard work, dedication, and love for his growing family. After 23 years with Atlas Cement, Ed worked for Independent Cement Company and later in life retired as a Real Estate Agent. Ed lived a long, full, and meaningful life rooted in kindness, integrity, and strong Catholic faith. He was the heart of his family, their rock, their greatest supporter, and the strongest person they knew. A true patriarch, Ed was the one everyone turned to for wisdom, comfort, and unconditional love. He was known for his sharp mind, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor. People were naturally drawn to him, and he was deeply loved by many friends whose lives were made richer simply by knowing him. He also had a special love for animals and enjoyed the companionship of many beloved dogs throughout his life, each one holding a special place in his heart. His faith guided his life and shaped the way he loved; generously, humbly, and without reservation. Ed was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marilyn Hester, his parents Edward Dennis Hester Sr. and Alene Hester, and three siblings; William Hester, Richard Hester, and Marjorie Kitsock. He is survived by his six loving children and their families: Nancy Adriance, Leslie Duffy (predeceased by her husband Kerry), Mary O'Neil, Anne Perry (Michael), Mark Hester (Jolene), Bridget Jakielaszek (Mark). He was also a proud grandfather to sixteen and a cherished great-grandfather to seven. His greatest joy was his family, and his love created a bond that will continue to unite them for generations to come. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Friday, January 16th from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 65 Columbia Turnpike,
Rensselaer, New York. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Road, Troy, New York. Burial will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery,
