SCHODACK - Malcolm E. Hoyt, 88, of Schodack, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Albany Medical Center.
Malcolm was born in Ancram, N.Y., the son of the late Henry and Annie (Tompkins) Hoyt.
He was a devoted husband to his wife, Annie, for 62 years. Together they created a lifetime of memories.
Malcolm was most happy spending time with his family. Holidays and family picnics on the porch were special to him. He enjoyed cruising the islands with his wife, Annie, and traveling with his family. Fond memories were made of annual trips to Myrtle Beach, all sharing one big beach house with sunrise views. He loved walks on the beach with Annie, as they celebrated their anniversary every year in Wells, Maine. NASCAR, vintage cars, car shows, and old country music were his other favorite pastimes.
He worked for Sterling Winthrop for nearly 50 years, and drove a tractor trailer for Staats Express. After retirement, he worked as a part-time courier for Questar III BOCES, where he made many friends.
The family would like to thank our extended family, friends, and neighbors, who supported Dad with friendship and care.
Survivors include daughters, Deborah (Louis) Rozniewski, Lisa (late Fred) Root, Wendy (David) Van Slyke, and Tina Hoyt; six grandchildren, Mark, Adam, Ryan, Ashley, Marley, and Anneke; three great-grandchildren, Sadianne, Easton and Audrianna.
In addition to his parents; and brother, Elwood Hoyt; he was predeceased by his loving wife, Johanna Christina Hoyt.
Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday, February 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., in the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Interment is in East Greenbush Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Malcolm's memory may be made to The Greenbush Reformed Church or Rensselaer County Meals on Wheels.
