Michael Hoyt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woodlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery - Lacey on Feb. 12, 2026.
Michael "Mike" Hoyt, beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and friend, passed away

peacefully on January 27, 2026.

Born on August 23, 1943. His parents were Lynn and Bob Hoyt, Mike was the eldest of their three

children (Mike, Mary Kay, and Chris). He grew up in the Seattle area, where he developed a strong

sense of character, loyalty, and determination. As a young man, he joined the United States Navy and

proudly served for 19 years. He served during the Vietnam War-an experience that shaped him

deeply. He rose to become a Chief Petty Officer by the time he retired from the military. Throughout

his life, Mike held tremendous respect for veterans and the sacrifices of those who serve.

In his early adult years, Mike married his first wife, Fran with whom he welcomed three children: Mike

Jr., Robert, and Dawn. He built a successful career in banking before transitioning into the automotive

world, where he became a respected salesman and finance manager.

It was during his time in the car business that Mike met the love of his life, Jayne. Together, for almost

40 years they created a rich and joyful life filled with adventure and companionship. They enjoyed

boating, fishing, motorcycle riding, caring for their many pets, and sharing countless cherished

moments with friends and family.

Mike also embraced his role as a devoted stepfather to Michelle Paris and Michael Gibson. As their

families grew, he became a loving and doting grandfather, always making each grandchild feel

uniquely special, valued, and adored. He loved his special dog "Peanut."

He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Jayne, and his youngest grandson, Max

Paris.

It's time to lay your burdens down. May you always rest in peace, Mike.

Viewing hours are at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Cemetery in Lacey on Tuesday, the 17th, from 10-

11 am, followed by a Graveside military burial at 12:30 pm.
