Kenneth Coate Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woodlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery - Lacey on Feb. 10, 2026.
Kenneth William Coate, age 72, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Olympia, Washington. He was born on May 13, 1953, in Hood River, Oregon, to K. Harvey Coate and Polly Lou (Lemming) Coate.

Kenneth was a gifted encourager and visionary who never knew a stranger. He was deeply loved and will be remembered for his generous heart and the unconditional love he showed to others. His faith, kindness, and steady presence left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Kenneth spent much of his life in Juneau, Alaska, where he resided for over 40 years. He also lived in Lacey, Washington. He graduated from Hood River High School in 1971 and went on to build a life centered on hard work, service, and faith. He worked as a Telecommunications Journeyman with IBEW in Juneau, Alaska.

A man of strong faith, Kenneth served as a pastor with Rivers of Grace and was a devoted member of The Remnant Church in Tumwater, Washington. He was also an NRA instructor and a 4-H leader in Juneau, Alaska, where he enjoyed mentoring young men and encouraging them in their growth and character.

Kenneth loved the outdoors and found joy in fishing and hunting. He was also a dedicated food bank volunteer and quietly gave his time and energy to help those in need.

On May 1, 1998, Kenneth married Linda Coate, who survives him. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who took great pride in his family.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Coate; his sons, Aaron Watts, Isaac Watts of Washington, and Nathan Watts of Juneau, Alaska; his daughters, Katheryn Coate of Alaska, Amanda Huang of Alaska, and Rachel Mitchell of Washington; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his son, Tobin Coate (1977–2006).

A service celebrating Kenneth's life will be held on March 1, 2026, at Household Church, located at 4205 Lacey Blvd S.E., Lacey, Washington.

Kenneth's legacy of faith, generosity, and encouragement will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
