Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service - MooresvilleSandra Lee Coate, born on September 7, 1936, in Williamston, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025. She was 89 years old.
Sandy was a proud 1954 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. In the early 1960s, Sandra embraced her entrepreneurial spirit alongside her husband, Monte, co-owning Monte's Pizza and Sandy's Craft Store in Martinsville, where she engaged with the community and provided joy through her passion for food and crafts.
Sandy continued her professional journey with Mallory Battery before dedicating her career to the healthcare sector. As a Nursing Assistant at Millers Merry Manor, she touched countless lives with her compassionate care. Sandra's commitment to serving others extended to her two decades of service at what is now known as Otterbein Senior Life, where she continued to provide exceptional care until her retirement.
Sandy was a cherished member of the Pens and Friends Pen Pal Club, where she served as Bulletin Editor. Her love for literature was evident in her avid reading of murder mysteries, and she often found joy in word games such as Boggle, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. An enthusiastic stamp collector, Sandra possessed a vibrant and positive spirit, inspiring those around her to see the beauty in life's simple pleasures.
Sandra Lee Coate will be remembered with love, and her spirit will forever remain a guiding light for her family and friends.
She is survived by her four devoted sons: Jeffery Coate of Mooresville, Tom Coate of Noblesville, Curt Coate of Mooresville, and Doug Coate of Vinton, IA; six grandchidren; five great grandchildren; one sister, Judy Jankowski of Sun City, AZ and two sisters in law, Toni Smith of Indianapolis and Linda Allen of Greenwood.
Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Mable A. Pranaitis (Fisher); husband, Monte Lee Coate; grandson, Joshua Coate; brother, Jim Allen and sister, Mary Preston.
Family and friends may show their love and support from 1-4pm, Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Jones Family Funeral and Cremation Service, Mooresville. As we honor Sandy's wishes there will be no formal service.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or Boys Town 14100 Crawford St., Boys Town, NE 68010.
