Debra 'Debbie' Lane, age 68 of
Mooresville, Indiana passed away on February 7th, 2026.
Debbie worked for many years as a Postmaster for the Brooklyn Post Office in Brooklyn, Indiana.
She loved reading, listening to music, watching British television shows, & Hallmark movies, especially around the holidays. Her affinity for British culture was inspired by the many friends that she made over the years while exploring the internet, allowing a small town girl to extend her kindness & love to those "across the pond."
She enjoyed spending time with the family dog, Indica, who she affectionately referred to as her "Grand-Dog-ter." She loved to sit in her chair and listen to the wind chimes on the porch, saying how she found them soothing & peaceful. She always found ways to enjoy simple pleasures in life, & loved every moment that she spent surrounded by her loved ones. Family meant everything to her, & she would speak to them, & about them, at every opportunity. She was a gentle soul, that loved to laugh at every opportunity. She was fiercely loyal, & wanted nothing but the best, & happiness, for all of those that were close to her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kelly Lane, & her mother, Piney Lane, as well as her son's father, Douglas Canner.
Debbie is survived by her beloved son, Scott Lane, as well as a sizable family, whom she cherished deeply: Her sister Teresa Kelso & husband Coy, as well as their children Aaron Kelso & wife Nicole, & Wendy Kelso. She is also survived by her brother Anthony 'Tony' Lane & wife Robin, as well as their children Curtis Lane & wife Amber, Casey Lane, & Brittany Lane & fiancé James Russo.
She also had immense love & affection for her surviving great nieces & nephews: Treveon 'Trey' Wright, Dae'ona Edmonds, Tylee Lane, Denali Lane, Trista Lane, Tesirae Lane, Elizabelle Lane, Arwynn Lane, Taleah Lane, Zuri Lane, Octavia Lane, Lauren Caulk, Keely Smith, & Anna Smith.
Debbie spent many of her final days with her cousin, Jeannie Scott. They spent much time laughing & reminiscing, which brought her such comfort & joy during her end-of-life journey.
There are so many relatives & loved ones, both living, & those who have passed away, that she loved immensely. Please know that even if you are not listed here, that if you were family, or were like family to her, that you were appreciated & cherished every single day of her life. She spoke of so many, so often, that it would be impossible to include everyone, as much as the desire is there to do so.
Debbie's final wish was to be cremated, & a "Celebration of Life" will be held at Way of the Cross Tabernacle, 359 N. Elliott Ave., Martinsville, Indiana on February, 21st 2026 @ 3pm
