David George Naber, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed
away peacefully on January 14, 2026, in
Lacey, Washington, at the age of 95. For the past 31
years, David made his home at the Panorama Retirement Community, where he was known for
his warmth, wit, and welcoming spirit.
David was born on March 30, 1930, in
Hamburg, New York, to Monica and Edward Naber. Over
the course of his life, he lived in
Hamburg, NY;
Ambler, PA;
Boothwyn, PA; and ultimately
Lacey, WA-each place shaped by his kindness and steady presence.
A proud patriot, David served his country in the United States Air Force from 1948 to 1952. He
later pursued higher education at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, earning a
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. David devoted much of his professional life to public
service, working as a mechanical engineer for the United States Navy from 1960 until his
retirement in 1994. David was a nationally and internationally recognized expert on oxygen
support systems for aircraft. His work reflected his deep sense of responsibility, precision, and
commitment to excellence.
In 1975, David married the love of his life, the former Ms. Lisbeth Hannover, in the state of
Maryland. Together they built a life grounded in devotion, laughter, and shared adventure. David
was a loving and proud father to five children: Peter, Mara, Mark, James and D. Sean Naber. His
family was the center of his world, and he took great joy in every milestone, conversation, and
gathering.
David embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. He had a passion for folk dancing and
delighted in participating in the Senior Olympics, always approaching each activity with
determination and good humor. He was widely known for his quick wit and wonderful sense of
humor-qualities that brought smiles to countless faces and made time spent with him especially
memorable.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Monica and Edward Naber. He leaves behind a
legacy of love carried forward by his wife, Lisbeth Naber; his five children; seven cherished
grandchildren; and seven adored great-grandchildren. Through them, his values, stories, and
gentle strength will continue to live on.
From the family:
"We will forever remember David for his laughter, his kindness, and the deep love he showed to
all of us. He taught us the importance of integrity, perseverance, and finding joy in everyday
moments. Though our hearts ache in his absence, we are profoundly grateful for the many years
we were blessed to share with him. His love will remain with us always."
