The son of the late Peter Heter and Catherine Sosler Heter, Ed was born on August 9th, 1934, in Florida, NY.
He is survived by his partner, Ed Manning; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and his dear friends in Mostar – Ortijes, Bosnia-Herzegovina (Mama Dana & Cana, Milan, Adisa (at rest), Stefan, Ogi, Vanja Medan and Teo Marinovic & family from Split, Croatia), all of his friends in South Florida, especially friends of 52 years, George & Danny Hawes.
He was predeceased by his nine siblings, Carl Heter, Bernard Heter, Josephine Turi, Jean DeBella, Constance Heter, Daniel Heter, Benjamin Heter, Eleanor Kazar and Theresa Russo.
Ed Heter was a long-standing member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Tarboro, NC. His faith, family and friends were the most important things in his life. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, a Catholic Men's organization, and was instrumental in many of their charitable campaigns, especially the Tootsie Roll Drive.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, located at 1004 St. David Street, Tarboro, NC 27886, on a later date.
Burial and funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Florida, NY, date TBD.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to your favorite charity.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Carlisle Funeral Home in Tarboro, NC and TS Purta Funeral Home in Florida, NY.
