Edward Humble Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Jan. 8, 2026.
Mr. Edward Humble, a longtime resident of Andover and beloved husband of Mary E. (O'Sullivan) Humble, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Andover on Tuesday morning, January 6, 2026. He was 79 years old.

Born in Kent, England, Ed was the beloved son of the late John 'Jack' and Catherine (Woods) Humble. Ed retired from Whole Foods where he was employed as a Certified Cheese Professional. As a cordon blue trained chef, Ed spent many years in managerial hospitality for the U.K. National Health Service. Most of his work life in the US was spent sharing his passion and knowledge for food, and cheese in particular, through his employment with Whole Foods. He was immensely proud to attain Certified Cheese Professional (CCP) status from the American Cheese Society during his tenure with the company. In his spare time, Ed indulged his passion for music attending concerts in both countries for almost sixty years. A lifelong avid fan of Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler, he delighted in regaling people with stories of his unique experiences. Ed was also a sports enthusiast with the Patriots and Red Sox particularly dear to him. With a keen interest in photography and painting, Ed derived much joy in displaying his creations throughout his home. Ed's kindness, curiosity, sense of humor and genuine warmth will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Besides his beloved wife, Mary, Ed is survived by his loving daughter; Deirdre and her husband Andrew Hutchison; and his grandchildren Georgina and Sebastian Hutchison, all of Andover, brother; John and his wife Janet Humble, niece and nephew; Sarah and Spencer Humble, all of Kent, England. Ed was also the father of Annette and her husband Darren Devine of England. Ed was predeceased by his son, Luke Humble of England. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Coco who will miss him dearly.

His funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 2 to 5 PM. Interment will be held in the St. Augustine Cemetery in Andover.
