Edward S. Joiner

Atlanta, GA - Colonel Edward S. Joiner, born on December 23, 1930, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on November 2, 2025. Edward is survived by his son, Russ; his daughter, Deborah; and his grandsons, Dillon and Nicholas. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Wright Joiner, whom he will be buried next to at Six Oaks cemetery in Hilton Head, SC on Friday, November 14 at 12 PM.

Raised by his mother, Verlyn "Mimi" Moore, after losing his father as a young child, Edward grew up alongside his now deceased sister, Ann McLeod. Throughout his life, he remained grounded and guided by his faith in Jesus Christ. A dedicated Air Force fighter pilot and squadron commander, Edward served his country with honor and distinction for nearly 30 years. He was awarded numerous medals and accreditations throughout his career, reflecting his exceptional service and leadership.

A visitation service will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son Funeral Home in Brookhaven on Sunday, November 9 from 1-3 PM. Condolences to the family may be directed to the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite veterans' charity. Colonel Edward Sanford Joiner will be remembered as a man of courage and faith who lived a life of service, love, and joy.
