Edward Arnold Jolin left this world peacefully with assistance from Promedica hospice and the angels at Eldercare Waupaca. He had struggled with breathing issues for many years. He was born in Rhinelander, WI to Vernon and Annis (Jackson) Jolin on Sept 6, 1952. He joined the Army after high school and was stationed in Germany. He had many memories and stories about his time overseas.
After he returned to Oshkosh he held many jobs over his working career, often choosing security guard jobs. He also loved his job at the truck stop in Oshkosh and spoke about how much fun he had washing and filling the semi trucks. And he loved the food they would cook him every time he worked. Ed remained a bachelor all his life and never had any children.
He lived with his mother for many years until her death. He was full of stories for anyone who would sit and listen to them. He held onto vivid memories right up to the end, speaking on life with his 11 siblings 30+ nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews and many adventures he had with them. Uncle Ed was a favorite to all his nieces and nephews who were at Grandma's house on any given day. He loved working on a garden or in the backyard and teaching us cool things. Him and Jerry spent lots of time watching tv and driving Grandma crazy. He was very fond of his youngest brother, Jon. He had many stories of their wild times. He was so proud of Jon's musical abilities and guitar playing. He was always telling stories about concerts he attended, bands he saw and how Jon could play those songs too!
Ed was a tiny man with a big heart. He was creative and funny. He was smarter than people gave him credit for and he loved to let people underestimate him. He had a wicked sense of humor and loved to laugh. He could draw, and made several wood carvings of fish. He loved listening to bands he loved and had tales of different concert he worked at as security. He had loved to hunt and fish in his younger years though he had given up fishing when he moved to Waupaca. He loved to talk about road trips and traveling he had done. He could remember names of so many people who had crossed paths with him and loved finding people to just sit and talk with him about people they knew. He had made several veteran friends in the Waupaca area after living at OVE hall briefly.
Ed is survived by his remaining siblings: Charlotte Fisher-Clintonville, Ken Jolin-Oshkosh, Don (Kathy)Jolin-Oshkosh, Emmie (Dennis) Clauson-Elderon, Lloyd (Marcia) Jolin-Wittenberg, Vernon Jolin-Oshkosh, Gerald Jolin-Oshkosh, Mary (Floyd)Jolin-Oshkosh and Jon Jolin-Statesboro, GA. He has numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Jolin and Annis Jolin and his siblings Evelyn Voight and Robert Jolin.
Per Ed's wishes, there will be no service and he will be cremated and buried at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin.
