Charles Edward Jones was born on May 22, 1952, in Carson, Mississippi to Virgil Edward and Irene Dyess Jones. Mr. Jones, a lifelong resident of the Bassfield community, worked for many years in the logging industry; in addition, he also worked in greenhouses and also a galvanizing plant. He was an avid outdoorsman and absolutely enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. His daughters humorously recall since they had no brothers, their daddy happily substituted them as his "boys" and they accompanied him on many camping trips and fun outdoor adventures. Mr. Jones pride and joy was his grandchildren; he loved spending time with them and they have fond memories of their Pawpaw Ed always sitting on the front porch drinking his coffee. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Jones Foxworth, grandson, Isaiah Elliott Lee and his siblings, Sammy Jones, Linda Laiche, and Eileen Niehaus.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind; they include his wife of 49 years, Charlotte Jones of Bassfield, daughters, Jennifer Thompson, (Anthony) of Bassfield, Debra Kanade (Ravi) of Hattiesburg; sisters, Carolyn Nixon (Nick) of Prairieville, LA, Elaine Mouret (Alan) of Donaldsonville; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
