Edward Curtice Kaukas

KAUKAS, EDWARD "CURT"

On June 28th, 2020, Edward Curtice "Curt" Kaukas, of Doswell, Va, died peacefully at home at the age of 64. Born in 1956, in Bennington, VT to Edward and Beverly Kaukas, he grew up in Hoosick Falls, NY. Curt was a star athlete, accomplished golfer and won his hometown Club Championship as well as many other tournaments over the years.
Curt recently retired after serving as building inspector for Goochland County for 25 yrs. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan (Keough) Kaukas; his children Andrew (Orien) Mann, grandchildren Josephine and Eli; his daughter, Courtney (Scott) Hoke, granddaughter Quinn; his sister Lucinda (Andrew) Havenhand; his aunt Sandy Hayden and several cousins.
Curt was quick to smile and lend an ear to friends and colleagues alike. If success is measured in friends, Curt died a very rich man, indeed.
A celebration of his life will be held on July 10, from 5-8p, at the Montpelier Center for Arts & Education, outside. The family asks that masks and social distancing guidelines be adhered to for everyone's safety. A future celebration is planned for Hoosick Falls, at the Country Club on August 21st, 5p. In leau of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated to the Richmond SPCA or the MS Society, or a charity of your choice in his honor.
