Edward P. Koper

Edward P. Koper of Cortland passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 7:54 p.m. in Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngtown. He was 69 years old.
Ed was born on September 20, 1954, in Youngstown, the son of the late John and Julia Rudick Koper
He was a 1971 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force and was a B-52 crew chief. He graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelors degree in electrical engineering and retired from EDS for Packard Electric.
Ed loved listening to music, especially classic rock and bluegrass, loving the sounds of John Prine, The Beatles, and Leon Redbone. He enjoyed being outdoors and could be found mowing his grass and tending to his petunias. He was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. His favorite pastime though would be reading to his grandson Beckham and spending time with him.
Mr. Koper is survived by his wife and love of his life, Vanessa Wilson Koper, who he married in 1985; his children, Whitney Koper, and Justin (Kristen) Koper; 2 grandchildren, Beckham, and Emma; 3 nephews, Jeff (Katrina) Koper, Brian (Tara) Koper, and Rudy (Heather) Koper; and several great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Rudy Koper; and a nephew Brendan Koper.
