Edward Kopple Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sinai Memorial Chapels - Delray Beach on Feb. 1, 2025.
Edward "Eddie" B. Kopple, 90, of Coconut Creek, passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2025. Born on December 12, 1934, Eddie grew up in Los Angeles, California, and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1952. He briefly attended Cal Poly before leaving to serve his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He enlisted in 1953 and was honorably separated from active duty in 1957 as an Airman First Class (A1C).
During a military leave visit to his hometown of Philadelphia, Eddie met the love of his life, Esther "Essie" Fisher, on a blind date. The two married on March 24, 1957, and built a beautiful life together, raising two children in Philadelphia. This March would have marked their 68th wedding anniversary.
Eddie began his career in sales at his father-in-law's toy store in Philadelphia before moving into wholesale toy and sundry sales. His dedication to his work kept him employed well into his 70s, and even after retirement, he remained active by volunteering at his local VA. In 2015, he and Essie relocated to Coconut Creek, Florida.
A proud member of the Jewish War Veterans and the Wynmoor Fishing Club, Eddie also had a passion for bowling, World War II history, and all things Disney. He cherished coaching his children's little league teams and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Despite his modest means, Eddie always considered himself rich in love and family. He was known for his kindness, warmth, and generosity, always bringing people together. He found great joy in caring for orchids and helping injured and stray animals. Though he was proud of his past, he embraced modern technology, often keeping up with loved ones through his iPhone and social media.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Sylvia Kopple; his parents-in-law, Joe and Yetta Fisher; and his son-in-law, Chuck Alpert. He is survived by his beloved wife, Essie Kopple; his daughter, Robin Gordon, and her husband, Howard, of Pompano Beach; his son, Marc Kopple, and his wife, Sherree, of Philadelphia; his cherished grandchildren, Joey Alpert and his wife, Mary Jean, of McLean, VA; Amanda Bitton and her husband, Saar, of Davie; and Yale Alpert and his wife, Brittany, of North Wales, PA; and his brother, Stephen Kopple, and his wife, Susan, of Simi Valley, CA. Eddie passed away with the joy of knowing that great-grandchildren were on the way.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 3rd, at 9:30 a.m. at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 S State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449, LANE #3. Rabbi Loring Frank will officiate. Following the service, a reception will be held at Lester's Diner in Margate, FL.
Eddie Kopple was an everyday American hero, a man who lived a full and meaningful life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please make donations in Edwards' name to the Jewish War Veterans of the USA and Hasidah.org.
