Gilbertville - Edward S. Kowynia, 74, of Gilbertville, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a short illness.
He leaves his wife of 31 years, Sandra A. Zebrowski, sister-in-law Marie Adamowski, brother-in-law Ralph Zebrowski, niece Heather Ann Zebrowski, and many cherished friends. He was born in Ware, son of the late Stanley and Helen M. (Rucki) Kowynia.
Ed earned his Masters Degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He worked as a contract engineer in both the nuclear and structural engineering industries. At one time he held his private pilots license, and remained a member of the Association of Private Pilots. As a young man, Ed studied horn under Happy Louie and played Polish music along with the Ray Mitus band. In his retirement, Ed enjoyed spending time as a gentleman farmer at his family farm, and playing golf with Tim.
A Funeral Service for Ed will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11AM in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 4 to 6PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in New Saint Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 136, East Brookfield, MA 01515.
