Edward F. Krantz, 78, of Greenfield Township, died Friday, August 8, 2025, at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton with his wife by his side. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Dorothy A. (Davis) Krantz. They were married February 5, 1972.

Born August 9, 1946 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Gerald C. Krantz, Sr. and Anne (Cummings) Krantz.

Edward was a 1964 graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale and then attended the University of Scranton. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Vietnam era.

He was a lifelong faithful member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale, and the American Legion Post 610 in Mayfield.

He worked in construction his whole life and owned and operated Greenfield Terrace Construction Company for 20 years. He later worked for Grimm Construction Company, Waymart, and Hadley Construction Company in Pittston.

He truly was a man of faith and devoted to his wife and family. The family would like to thank the staff at Allied Skilled Nursing Home, 1 North, for their kind and compassionate care to Ed over the last few years.

He is also survived by three great nieces whom he helped raise and called "my girls": Devon Wildermuth, Larissa Webster and Hailey McElroy; three nieces: Vickie Matsuzewski, Kate Harris and Stacy Hulajev; two nephews: Edward Redmond and James Webster along with other nieces and nephews; one great great niece whom he called "my butterfly": Elaina Marie Ramos along with other great great nieces and nephews; two sisters: Anne Marie Schoenfeld and husband David of Petal, MS and Rosemary Jones and husband Jay of Palm Coast, FL and a very close cousin: Frank Krantz and companion Leslie of Greenfield Township.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Gerald C. Krantz, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, August 18, 2025, at 10:00 am from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, celebrated by Rev. Joseph J. Mosley, assistant pastor. Interment will follow with military honors at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.

A viewing was held Monday, August 18, 2025, from 9:00 - 10:00 am at the church.

Arrangements are under the care of the Edward A. Wade Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's name can be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale, PA 18407 or the American Legion Post 610, 600 Lackawanna Avenue, Mayfield, PA 18433.
