Thomas G Behonick of Endicott, NY, age 80, passed away peacefully at the Mercy House of the Southern Tier on February 10th, 2026, after a protracted battle with cancer.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Carol Behonick; his parents Michael Sr. and Florence Behonick; brother Joseph Behonick; cousin John "Jack" Behonick; sister-in-law Joan McGrail; and brother-in-law Terrence Kenney Sr.
He is survived by his children Michelle and Michael Pierce, Brick, NJ; Christopher and Tammara Behonick, Vestal, NY; Brenna and Jeremy Furgeson, Falcon, NC; and his Knights (grandchildren), who will forever miss their King of Martini-ville; Macallister and Gavin Furgeson, Falcon, NC; Jacob and Camryn Behonick, Vestal, NY; and Jameson Pierce, Brick, NJ.
He is also survived by his brother Michael Behonick Jr., Dunmore, PA; cousin Patricia Hernandez, Lake Suzy, FL; sister-in-law Nancy Kenney, Brick, NJ; brother-in-law William Kenney, Dunmore, PA; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Tom ('Yom") was a 1963 graduate of Dunmore High School and a 1967 graduate of the University of Scranton. He was proud to be the first member of his family to go to college and worked tirelessly to put himself through school. He served in the US Army Reserves and went onto a 40+ year career in finance management with IBM. Tom loved all sports, from golfing, to attending F1 Grand Prix races in Watkins Glen, to being a lifelong diehard NY Yankees fan, to enjoying a 30-year stint as a season ticket holder with Carol for Binghamton AHL hockey. He was a devoted and supportive grandfather who could always be found on the sidelines or in the stands at every sporting event that he could be, rooting on his grandchildren. Tom will be fondly remembered for his devotion to his family, as he worked hard to provide for them and give them opportunities that he did not have.
The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to the incredible staff, volunteers, and leadership of the Mercy House of the Southern Tier for caring for Tom in his final days. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate expressions of sympathy in Tom's memory be made to the Mercy House of the Southern Tier.
The family will receive friends on Saturday April 11th from 10am- 12pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main Street, Endicott.
