Janet L. Mead, age 94, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away surrounded by her family on February 5, 2026, after a wonderfully full life.
She was born on April 7, 1931, in Endicott, New York. She was predeceased by her parents Audley and Alison Allen, her son-in-law Grant McConnell, and in 2018 by her beloved husband of 68 years Robert W. Mead. She is survived by three children: daughters Robin Mead and Rhonda McConnell, her son
Robert A. Mead and his wife Sandra.
She is also survived by six grandchildren; Ryan (Carolyn), Victoria (Alessandro), Alison, Taylor (Katie), Drew (Lauren) and Julia (Paige) as well as nine great-grandchildren: Claudia, Margot, Rosemary, Raffaella, Ferdinando, Grant, Pipa, Amelia and Colin. She graduated from Vestal High School, attended the Katharine Gibbs School, and then married the love of her life.
Janet was devoted to taking care of her husband and family. Some of her happiest times were spent cruising the world and traveling the Intracoastal Waterway with Bob, on board their boat the "Maerog." She particularly enjoyed a lifetime of summers at Quaker Lake, Pennsylvania, with family and friends.
She was the beloved matriarch of the family and referred to as "Gran Jan" by many.
Janet was blessed to have very special caregivers who supported her over many years and became part of our family. We are also indebted to Dr. John Perry for the care he provided.
A private burial will take place this spring. A celebration of Janet's life will take place at Quaker Lake, Pennsylvania this summer. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
