Edward Kuhar Obituary

Kuhar Edward James, Jr. July 9, 1941 – February 5, 2026 Age 84, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Chester, PA., to Bernice (née Longhurst) and the late Edward James Kuhar, Sr., Ed's life was anchored by his love for his family and a deep sense of purpose. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Linda (née McEntire) Kuhar; loving father to Jonathon Kuhar (Allison), Joshua Kuhar, Jeremy Kuhar (Kelly), and Melissa Smith (Greg); and cherished "O.G." to his grandchildren Cole, Carter, Theodore, Maxwell, Benjamin, Penelope, Hattie, and McEntire. He is also survived by his sisters, Diane Minka and Suzanne Lubguban (Robert). Ed earned a bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics from Lehigh University, his master's degree in mechanical engineering from Widener University, and pursued doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania. He built a distinguished career as an aerospace engineer working for Martin Marietta, General Electric, and Lockheed Martin. As a member of NASA's Pogo Working Group, he helped solve a critical instability in the Saturn V rocket and was essential to the success of the Apollo missions that helped man walk on the moon. His published paper, Dynamic Transformation Method for Modal Synthesis, earned him a NASA New Technology Award and established him as a leading figure in the field of structural dynamics and vibration analysis. Outside of his professional life, Ed was a gifted clarinetist who loved music, performing everywhere from Broad Street with the Mummers to Carnegie Hall with the Lehigh University band. Eventually, Ed and Linda made their home in Audubon, PA., where they raised their four children and built a life filled with memories, friendships, and traditions. Ed's love for his home on Mockingbird Lane, his family, and the people around him was unmistakable. He was thoughtful, grounded, and deeply proud of those he loved-qualities that defined both his professional achievements and his personal life. Relatives and friends are invited to Celebrate Ed's Life on Friday, February 13, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:20 A.M., followed by a service at 11:30 A.M., with interment at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. Ed will be remembered for his brilliance, his humility, and the unwavering love he gave to his family-a legacy carried forward in the lives and hearts of all who knew him.

Dear Kuhar Family,
Ed consistently brightened my day at GE/Lockheed Martin when I was lucky enough to work on space programs with him. He would walk into my office all revved up about something and we´d chat about how to proceed to make whatever the challenge was work. Ed had one of those personalities that made the work environment a pleasant experience. The world would be a much better place with more people like him.

Dear Linda and family. So sad to hear about Ed´s passing. He had the most beautiful smile and was genuinely happy to be with his family at every get together and as you know there were many. Thoughts and prayers. Mary Lou (cousin in law) by way of Jimmy.
