Edward J Langan

Edward John Langan was born in Hoboken NJ on December 18th, 1940. His childhood and early education took place in West New York, a town that followed him throughout his life. He attended Mount Saint Mary's College in Emittsburg, Maryland and was always proud of having attended "the Mount."
He began his career in education as a teacher, then a supervisor and finally as principal for many years. He was employed by the West New York Bd. Of Education. He enjoyed the challenge of the job, but his favorite part was working with the children. He retired in 1999 after a long and successful career. Retirement provided him with the extra time to enjoy traveling, reading, watching old western movies and of course rooting for who else but Notre Dame and the N.Y. Giants.
He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage with a complete wardrobe to advertise it. If it was Irish, he loved it.
His true enjoyment came from spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They really were his pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law, uncle and friend to many.
He is survived by his wife Donna (nee Massa) of 35 years. His children Stacy Panaccione and her husband Mark. Edward Sean Langan and his wife Sheila. Colin Ferris Langan and his wife Ariana. His siblings Mary Lou Donoghue, Margaret Langan, James Langan. His grandchildren Cole and Talia, Isabella, Samantha, Shannon, Jackson Edward. His great grandchildren Brewer and Bowen.
A visitation will be held at Barrett Leber Funeral Home in Tenafly on Thursday, February 20th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A Funeral mass will be held at St John the Evangelist Church on Friday, February 21st at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
