Mr. Edward Lavin served in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, worked for the Fire Department of New York for 37 years, primarily as the Marine Company 1 Fireboat Pilot and for the Coast Guard as the Governors Island Ferry Boat Pilot.
Outside of being with his family, being on the water was his home. He was a true family man, honorable in action and dedicated to righteousness. He loved fiercely, spoke gently and guided with grace. His laughter and stories will resonate eternally in the hearts of all who met his acquaintance.
