Edward Lenga Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barber Memorial Home, Inc. - Johnson City on Jan. 30, 2026.
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Edward "Ed," "Edge," "Edgy," "Edziu" J. Lenga Jr. of Binghamton, NY. Ed went peacefully to his eternal rest on January 28, 2026.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Doris Lenga; his sister, Laura; and his brothers-in-law, Donald and Charlie. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Patricia; his sisters, Patricia and Katharine; and his brother- and sister-in-law, Alan and Elaine Bellis. He was a proud and devoted father to two children, Amber (Jeffrey) Henyan and Tyler (Alanna) Lenga, and a loving grandfather to Logan and Austin Henyan, and Aubrey, Gavin, and Garrett Lenga.

Ed grew up in Johnson City, NY, where he spent his younger years teasing his three sisters, practicing gymnastics-with the still rings and parallel bars being his favorite events- playing chess avidly, and displaying a remarkable talent for drawing and art.

In high school, Ed met the love of his life, Patty. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, shared adventures, camping, and traveling as often as possible.

Ed enjoyed a career spanning more than 40 years at IBM/Lockheed Martin, where he performed a wide range of manufacturing responsibilities. He was recognized many times for his perfect attendance and his continuous pursuit of excellence. Outside of work, Ed was a skilled gardener and an avid sportsman who loved fishing and hunting. He thoroughly enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, but, above all, he cherished the relaxed pace of retirement. He especially enjoyed the time he and Patty spent "snow birding" to the sun and sand of St. Petersburg, Florida. Their Florida friends and life brought them much happiness.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 1-3 PM at Barber Memorial Home, 428 Main Street, Johnson City, NY.

Ed's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the aides, nurses, doctors, and volunteers-affectionately known as "the angels here on earth" -at Mercy House of the Southern Tier, for the tender care shown to Ed and for the genuine kindness and support they provided to his family.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

Edgie was part of our circle of friends during and immediately after high school, when we took jobs at McDonalds . He was also a member of a few of our different softball teams as a Pitcher, including the team that went undefeated one Summer. Edgie and I decided to walk to our high school graduation, wearing our gowns. We also camped in the Adirondacks together. Brenda and I are so sorry to hear of his passing.

Patty, I wanted to let you know I am thinking about you & Edgy today. I remember when You, Edgy and Don came to stay with us in Pensacola. I still use Edgy's speedie sticks he made for us. Best ever! I remember when you met him in high school. He would not give up on his girl. My heart is sad today for you and your family. The obituary was just beautiful. Thinking of you,
Tim & Linda (Dickson) Martin

I first met Ed at C. Fred school back in the mid 60s. He was the cool guy that wore Madras shirts. We never saw each other much after graduation...
but I met his son Tyler in my time at the University. Ed bought my Dad's Buick Gran Sport. He was a really good guy. Prayers for his family.
