Edward J. Lombardi

Edward James Lombardi, 76, of Derry, NH, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, with his family lovingly by his side. He was born on August 3, 1949, in Malden, MA a son of the late Edward and Virginia (Fahey) Lombardi. Edward had been a resident of Derry for the past 40 years, formerly living in Massachusetts.
Strong-willed and stubborn, he had a heart of gold and an incredible sense of humor that was at times mischievously inappropriate. He loved being a grandpa, was a patient and kind teacher who was a source of strength, wisdom and could tell stories for days. Edward was a hands-on, innovative problem-solver who could fix and build anything; a true "MacGyver" of all things. Over a career spanning more than four decades in the medical device industry, Edward was an accomplished engineer and inventor earning a number of US and global patents for revolutionary devices that advanced healthcare.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved and patient wife of 53 years, Esther (Chiulli) Lombardi; son, Edward Lombardi and his wife Christie of NH; daughter, Danielle Lombardi of MA; and three grandchildren, Edward, Everly and the late Ariel. An avid Boston sports fan, he will be fondly remembered by numerous cousins including Ralph and Eddie who were like brothers to him, an extended family, a close-knit group of friends and neighbors, many of whom he spent time with in Florida, and, of course, his two furry buddies.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 30th from 2 – 4 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Edward was open arms and open doors; he will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
