LOMBARDI, William J. Longtime resident of Dedham, formerly of Canton, passed away on October 18, 2025. Beloved husband of Eileen R. (Ward) Lombardi for 67 years. Devoted father of Joseph Lombardi and his wife Elle of Easton, Rita Lombardi and her fiancé Phil of Canton, Jim Lombardi and his wife Kelly of Walpole, Michael Lombardi of RI., and Eileen Lombardi of Walpole. William is survived by many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, he was predeceased by his three angels; James W. Jennifer, and Nick. Dear brother of Josephine Sarno and her late husband Leo of Norwood, and the late Sonya French. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
William was a proud Marine Veteran of Korean War. He retired after 42 years in the U.S. Postal Service. Throughout his life Bill loved physical fitness and sports, especially college football and baseball. He enjoyed coaching youth sports, and loved throwing the ball with anyone and everyone. Bill was a freelance writer for local newspapers. He was also a self-made historian and a master of trivia. Bill loved being a clown and having fun with his grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home 456 High St. Dedham on Wednesday, October 22nd from 3-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Thursday, October 23rd at 9am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Dedham at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Bill's memory to St. Mary's Church 420 High St. Dedham, MA 02026.
